quilts for Haiti

Katie from an organization called Helping Hands came and spoke to our group last night at "That Alpine Quilt Group." We knew she was coming and organized to have these blankets made for the people of Haiti when she goes to visit in a few weeks. We had over 50 blankets that we were able to donate to her organization. That's why I love my group so much. They always come to the rescue when there is a need.

Katie also issued another challenge. She is headed to Peru to pick up her daughter from serving a mission and is taking a suitcase filled with white shirts and ties (things we would send to DI or throw out) We are going to see if we can fill her suitcase for her to take back to Peru.

The following are quilts that were show and tell from quilt group last night. This quilt is a Bunny Hill Design. She did a great job of coordinating the colors for this quilt.

Laurel has been collecting Kaffe Fausett prints for a while and finally put them together this fun colorful quilt.

Fresh New Look, and Comments are now working!

Word has gotten back to me that people could not comment on my blog. After several attempts to solve this issue, I just decided it was time for a fresh new look. It is, as always still in development. But in the mean time, let me know what you think. Let's test out the comment section!

American Quilting Retreat

Cindy and I were invited to speak at the American Quilting Retreat this week. It was so much fun to see a lot of my friends and to see what a quilting retreat is all about. Amy does a fabulous job of taking care of all these women. We each received this darling pin cushion that her and her daughters made.
We then received a little treat bag with a little notepad, lotion, tape measure and of course, chocolate.
The following are some really cute quilts from the trunk show that followed Cindy and I. This is a fun quilt with skate boards on that a lady did for her grandson.
Look at those cute puppies.
I love these witches boots.

Lori Holt's cute sampler quilt.
There are 120 fabrics in this quilt and 80 pumpkin blocks.
The following are quilts that the American Quilting ladies put together to show everyone what kind of quilts they could make out of the Riley Blake Fabric called Bloom and Grow.

Inside those cute baskets are yoyos.

This is the beginning of the cute pictures I took of all my frie…

Valentines Day

I wanted to show a few of the fun Valentine's treats I found. Below are chocolate heart pretzels.

The theme for our Valentine dinner was Italian. We had lasagne and a few favorite treats.

Yummy cupcakes were a hit!

A preview of our Valentine table before it becomes a feeding frenzy for all invited to dinner.
The pens are for the cards that are passed around at the table. We each write what we love about those at the dinner table. Even those guests who are invited get a special card with thoughts and feelings of love from all of us. It's fun to pull out those cards and read them during the year to remind you how much you are appreciated and loved.
The hearts had a little gift inside and the fabric hearts are to hang somewhere to see and remember that someone loves you. I feel like we need those constant reminders in this crazy, hurried world we live in.

Tim Tams are a favorite this year because a sweet friend told me where I could buy some. They are Australian. I didn't know you …
